Where to begin?
I've always wanted a leather duffle. I had these visions of a bag I could take everywhere. One that I could put my camera, notepad, cologne and just about anything in. I ended up doing a bit of research trying to find what I was looking for. At this point I wasn't even sure myself but nothing was grabbing my attention. Fast forward a few months, I saw someone wearing an old pilot jacket. You know, the ones with the wool on the collar? It was made with old brown leather, complete with the patchy wool collar and just looked like it had been through a lot. I then thought about how that would look on a leather bag - the lining all wool. You could throw your belongings in and not worry too much about damage. It was something I'd never seen before. That's when Artisan really started. Within days, I started to research leathercraft. I bought a bunch of tools, a sewing machine, hides of leather and started learning. The first thing I made was a phone sleeve. The second thing I made was that leather duffle I always wanted.
At this point I branded the bag but not because I had plans to sell it, it was more to do with what ONNIFER represents.
After this, I ended up doing a bag on commission, and then interest began to grow. It was at this point I started to showcase some of the bag online, with plans to release it alongside a few beanies.
The duffles take over a month to make. I also made a few phone sleeves and other bits and pieces. I enjoy the hands on aspect of it and find myself wanting to learn more. After thinking about it, I decided to put everything that is made in-house under 'Artisan'. Made-to-orders can be done and beyond that, I will continue to make other products that will be listed when they are complete. You can view current Artisan product here.
